HOW DO LIP FILLERS WORK?
Lip fullness varies from person to person. Some people are born with thinner lips. With age lip fullness, smoothness, and volume can also breakdown. Dermal lip fillers are a smooth, clear gel injected beneath the skin. They are made from a modified form of hyluronic acid (HA) which can be found as a naturally-occuring substance in the body. They attract water to the tissues, providing hydration and volume. Our skilled healthcare professionals will discuss a personalized plan to help you achieve your aesthetic goals. They will proceed to clean the area that will be treated and apply numbing cream. Once the anesthetic has taken effect, the formulation chosen for you will be strategically injected at several points for natural-looking results. 
HOW LONG DO LIP FILLERS LAST?
Lip dermal fillers utilize a non-surgical method to enhance lip smoothness and volume. It is for this reason that injections are temporary. 

Lip fillers are capable of lasting several months before requiring re-treatment. Some lip dermal fillers that our healthcare providers use, such as JUVÉDERM®, can last anywhere from 6 months up to a year depending on the formula chosen and lifestyle habits among other factors . Our patients are very satisfied with the convenience and results! 
WHAT ARE POTENTIAL SIDE EFFECTS?
Side effects are minor and may include tenderness, firmness, lumps/bumps, pain, redness, discoloration, and itching. There may be minor bruising and swelling for 1-4 days that can be typically covered by makeup.
DO LIP INJECTIONS HURT?
Lip injection treatments don’t hurt.  The latest formulations of JUVÉDERM® fillers contain lidocaine, a local anesthetic, which allows for an even more comfortable procedure and immediate post-treatment experience. It is our goal for each patient to have a positive experience during their procedure. 
HOW LONG IS RECOVERY TIME AND WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
RECOVERY TIME
​After your treatment, you may experience some bruising, swelling, and redness in the injection sites. Redness and swelling should dissipate within a day or two, and any bruising should fade within about a week.
You may need to undergo subsequent treatments to maintain your results. You are able to return your normal routine immediately after the appointment, however it is important to avoid strenuous activity within the first 2 days post-treatment. This will help avoid post-procedure brusing and swelling. Lips are vascular and soft, and it is always possible to experience some temporary swelling and bruising for a few days after the treatment. This should resolve within 1 to 2 weeks.

​RESULTS
Our patients see the results of their lip injections immediately and there is no downtime. The final results are best seen around 2 weeks post-treatment. The appearance of the treatment site will refine as the fillers settle and swelling resolves.
